One month in: what we've actually learned about AI agents and money

Five issues, one framework, and the calculator that ties it together.

FinAgentHub is one month old. Instead of a new topic this week, here's what the last five issues actually add up to — and the framework underneath all of them, in case you missed how the pieces connect.

This week in the agent economy

  • Natural — the AI-agent payments startup from issue one — agreed a credit facility of up to $100 million with Upper90 Capital Management. What it means for you: the "human still approves the payment" model from issue one is scaling up with real credit lines behind it, not just seed funding. The infrastructure for bounded agent payments is getting real money behind it.

The deep dive: what one month adds up to

Issue one introduced the three-tier framework: observe, draft, execute. Every issue since has been a different angle on the same idea.

Issue two (KYC to KYA) was about proof: even a bounded agent needs a verifiable identity, or "bounded" is just a promise nobody can check. Issue three turned the framework into a starting list — five tasks, ranked by how safely each one can be bounded, for irregular income specifically. Issue four turned it into a calculator: your own income and spending, run through the same three tiers, producing actual numbers instead of a vibe. Issue five made the case for why bounded isn't a beginner phase — the institutions with the most resources and the most to lose are staying bounded on purpose, not as a stepping stone to full autonomy.

Put together: bounded isn't a compromise position we're recommending until something better comes along. It's the answer, for almost everything, and the interesting work is figuring out which of your specific tasks belong at which tier.

If you're catching up

Two things are worth doing in the next 10 minutes if you haven't already: take the Financial AI Literacy Test to see where you actually stand, and run your own numbers through the Agent Authorization Simulator. Between the two, you'll have a genuinely personalized answer to the question this whole newsletter is built around.
